Amazing clients. Remarkable websites. These are some of our favourite projects.

Open Door Midwifery

Launched January 2012

The registered midwives at Open Door Midwifery promote quality, supportive & accessible care and they needed a site to reflect their practice. We designed a friendly and open online space that makes families feel welcome and provides access to many resources on midwifery and natural childbirth. The site is built on WordPress which makes it possible for Open Door to update the content themselves. We also helped Open Door build a detailed intake form with Wufoo.com which helps streamline the intake process.

Lotus Events

Launched October 2011

We’ve worked with Rob & Andrea before, so when they contacted us to redesign their wedding planning & events company website we jumped at the chance. Lotus Events puts on amazingly cool weddings & events and wanted a site that reflected the type of client they love working with: passionate, full of heart and with a bit of an edge. We designed their site from scratch, revamped their logo, plus inserted a CMS to help them make quick edits. We also custom-coded a gallery page which can be updated by simply editing a Flickr photo set. It was a fantastic project and they were blown away with the new design. Hooray!

KOLS

Launched October 2011

KOLS is the brainchild of Colin Bhowmik who was inspired to build a business that gives back. When you purchase a beautifully designed KOLS toque, KOLS will send books to kids in India. The site design reflects the flavours and culture of India - cinnamon, paprika, curry - and every element was built to highlight KOLS’ unique story and product. This site marks our first “responsive” design - the site layout will adapt gracefully to varying screen widths so that visitors on any device (desktop or handheld) will have an optimum experience.

DGRC (University of Toronto)

Launched October 2011

The NSERC CREATE Program in Distributed Generation for Remote Communities is a research and training initiative based out of the University of Toronto. Their goal is to provide clean air technologies for use on an energy grid in remote Northern areas. They came to us for a website that would attract students to apply to their program and develop partnerships with industry and community leaders. So we designed an attractive WordPress site that gave them the power to update the site on their own.

Got Craft? Redesign

Launched August 2011

Got Craft? puts on Vancouver’s largest (and best!) indie craft fair. We designed their old site back in 2009, but with a move to the UK and Got Craft going international, they needed a new look to herald in the big change. We installed a super simple CMS to allow Got Craft? to quickly update their site anytime they need to. The new design is fun, crafty and the city-specific illustrations keep everyone on the right track.

“All we have are good words to describe how great it was to work with you both.  You guys made everything easy to understand, super accessible and of course, the design work was absolutely amazing. A big thank you for all of your hard work and we look forward to working with you on future projects!” – Andrea Tucker, Got Craft?

Willow Tree Counselling

Launched May 2011

Megan Sutherland asked us to redesign her website to attract new clients to her Vancouver counselling practice. She wanted a warm and welcoming space where prospective clients could get to know her before getting in touch to set up an appointment. Her site also offers a growing archive of articles and resources written and selected by Megan. We used WordPress as a CMS rather than a blogging tool so that she could easily write and organize all of the site’s different types of content.

“From the beginning, Cornelius and Jeannette listened very carefully to the vision I had for my new website and helped make that a reality with a minimum of stress.  They did not proceed until I was 100% satisfied with the site and I also appreciate the special attention that was given to making the site very user-friendly.  One of Cornelius and Jeannette’s biggest assets is their superb client service; they were always very timely in returning messages, communicating progress and guaranteeing a completion date.  For personalized service, technical skill and design, I highly recommend Matchbox Creative!” - Megan Sutherland, Willow Tree Counselling

Room6

Launched May 2011

Room6 is a lovely shop located in Deep Cove, BC that is filled to the brim with beautiful objects and we wanted to make their new online shopping experience as sweet as shopping in-store. We worked with Room6’s awesome designs and translated them for the web while harnessing the power of LemonStand for e-commerce. Room6 is now able to easily merchandise and organize products just like products on a shelf. LemonStand will offer the power and flexibility to adapt and grow along with the shop.

Richmond Auto Mall

Launched March 2011

The Richmond Auto Mall is one of the largest auto malls in British Columbia with 16 dealerships under one “roof”. Matchbox Creative worked with local design agency Ravensfoot Design Company to complete the back-end of the site. We chose ExpressionEngine to power the site because we needed a flexible framework that allowed the auto mall staff and dealers to post many types of content. Features include: a blog, vehicle reviews, dealer information, and promotions. Development required creating custom add-ons for ExpressionEngine and tight integration with a third party service for providing vehicle listings.

Hodgkinson Design

Launched October 2010

Carley Hodgkinson is a fantastic graphic designer who had no online showcase for all her client work. That needed to change. We helped Carley translate her awesome paper skills to the web and set her up with a simple CMS so that she can update her projects on her own. Now she’s got a beautiful online space where her images and work can shine.

AIDS Walk For Life Vancouver 2010

Launched July 2010

Last year, we redesigned the Vancouver AIDS WALK website and this year they called upon us again to re-skin their site for the 2010 WALK. Within the past year, the Scotiabank AIDS WALK for LIFE took a new direction - changing its location, focus and branding. They wanted to target a younger audience and get them to take action. We jumped all over the new branding and made sure that visitors to the site could easily register, donate or volunteer for the WALK by creating a home page that highlighted those three actions. Of course, the site is all hooked up to ExpressionEngine to make updates easy.

Everybody Likes Sandwiches

Launched March 2010

Everybody Likes Sandwiches is the award-winning food blog of our very own web designer, Jeannette. Her popular blog had been hosted on Blogspot for five long years and was in need of a serious design shake-up, along with a move to her own custom domain and a move to WordPress. We created our own custom theme with better functionality and all the features she needed, like a bangin’ new recipe index. She’s happy and her readers are happy. It’s the perfect recipe for blogging success!
